How Weebly Website Builder Publishing Operates ? Print

  • 0

All websites crafted within the Weebly Website Builder through WHMCS MarketConnect are required to be self-hosted.

Upon publishing a site, Weebly employs FTP to transfer specific files (such as index.html), proxy files (a few PHP files), and .htaccess to the designated location for that particular site.

The PHP file, serving as a compact proxy, responds to the initial request to the published site via the specified 404 handler in .htaccess. This PHP file then communicates with Weebly to retrieve the page's content, which is subsequently delivered to the user's browser.

Simultaneously, the PHP file caches the content for subsequent requests, minimizing the need for additional trips to Weebly for the same content. When the site is republished, the cache is cleared, and the process restarts.

In most instances, WHMCS will automatically configure the FTP Publishing Credentials.
